The interdisciplinary symposium, convened by the Department of Drama, Theatre and Dance, Royal Holloway, University of London, proposes that ceramics objects lend themselves to a particularly rich form of relational performance analysis due to their material and formal variety, and their cultural ubiquity across history. Speakers from the CRC-UK/CREAM, include Prof. Clare Twomey in conversation with Siobhan Davies on the theme of ‘Movement and Material’; Tessa Peters’ on ‘Leaving A Mark: Gesture and Performance in Clay’; and PhD candidate Laura König on ‘Sensitising for Affect and Affective Touch through Ceramic Objects in Sensuous Choreographies’. Other speakers include artists Natasha Fontenelle, Lindsey Mendick, Mella Shaw, Julian Stair and Vidya Thirunarayan.
