David Bate will discuss the transition from ‘modern’ to postmodern and ‘contemporary’ photography, and the increasing role that photography has in our lives: establishing identity and its affective value in our memories of social life and personal histories.
Open to all people the talk will introduce themes related to photography theory and practice. The event provides insight into the changing ideas about photography reflected in recent movements and issues. The talk coincides with the release of his latest book Photography After Postmodernism.
