Photology presents ‘David Bate: Surrealism, Photography and Ai’ on Monday 7th October at The Pig, Hastings.

The historical movement of surrealism quickly embraced photography, only to find it had created a new popular idea appearing everywhere: the surreal. The new aesthetic format spread like wild fire across popular culture and still present, has reemerged everywhere again as virally linked to new generative Ai images, as weird, eerie and the strange. On the one hand, the popular success of surrealist aesthetics changed popular attitudes to photography, but on the other, what do have they to do with surrealist photography?

Tickets cost £5 (cash only).
