Sunyoung Kim is a curator and researcher, currently undertaking doctoral research with CREAM at the University of Westminster. She is particularly enthusiastic about contemporary mixed media photographic work, as her research interests currently focus on medium specificity and its latent influence on contemporary photographic practices in post-medium conditions. She may expand further on this subject research from a larger perspective by examining how mixed media work has formed an intersection with social, cultural, political, aesthetic, and photographic histories.

Sunyoung holds a master’s in Art Theory from Korea National University of Arts, Seoul, Republic of Korea and a bachelor’s in Creative Arts (interdisciplinary studies) from The University of Melbourne, Australia. Since 2010, she has been working for Museum Hanmi (formerly The Museum of Photography, Seoul) as a senior curator in charge of exhibition and international relations.
