Scott Perry is a photographic artist and Doctoral Researcher at the University of Westminster, exploring the field of expanded photography. His practice examines the role of light in photographic practice, especially through an expanded definition of photography as drawing with light. This explores areas beyond traditional photographic presentation into the concept of kinetic and spatial light drawings and installations, within the field of photographic practice. He explores what it means to make the audience the light sensitive element of the photographic equation rather than a piece of film, paper or digital sensor within a camera.
Perry’s current research project explores the UK airshow industry and the photographic documentation and communication of events. He is seeking to explore the ways in which expanding the field of photographic communication can better represent the character of the airshow, compared to the photographic image.
He has previously completed an MRes in Creative Practice in 2023 at the University of Westminster. As a photographic artist Perry has exhibited internationally, working with photography in a wide range of different ways. He has exhibited numerous times at the Polish Festival of Pinhole Photography and venues in Italy, Portugal, USA and across the UK.
Perry is also a Photography Lecturer at University Centre Peterborough and Photography Tutor at City Lit.
